Thanks! Soft top has to be folded down to fit a hardtop over it. the soft top could also be removed and only have the hard top. It would be folded down on the rear parcel shelf. It would be obvious just look its not hidden or anything just retracted. Take a picture of the parcel shelf if youre not sure and we will tell you if you have a soft top.
less than one hour if you never done before. remove the 10 bolts on the rear, the remove the metal and rain rain, refit the metal rail you need it to fit the carpet. remove the 2 safety belts plastic sides then remove the 3X2 14 bolts on the side, that's all. you don't need the rain rail for the hard top. Less is more. Nope. I've got the soft-top still installed (at the moment) with the tonneau on, then the hard-top on top. The seal around the rain rail isn't perfect, but still absolutely no way for water to get in. I'd get a set of bolt in Spec Miata brackets for your own use. Even OEM latches can pop loose on bumps and take up sunvisor space. A good bracket & hardware set is cheaper than used OEM latches and you won't have to worry about compatibility. Just make sure you're gentle removing the latches from the hardtop.
